Student misbehavior is a frequent interrupter of classroom instruction and a serious roadblock to attaining ambitious academic standards. Research clearly shows that those teachers who implement positive behavioral strategies with quality and consistency gain a strong instructional edge.
This full-day training is designed for general-education and special education teachers, support staff, and administrators in grades 3-12. It presents proven strategies to handle a full range of challenging behaviors in group or individual situations. All workshop content is research-based and drawn from principles of effective behavior management. The ideas shared in the workshop are compatible with Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports.
The training answers these 5 crucial teacher questions about managing difficult student behaviors:
- How do I define student behavior problems clearly and specifically--so that I can match the student to the right intervention?
- What are the best classroom interventions available for managing defiant and non-compliant behaviors in individual students or whole groups?
- How can I set up a structured, in-class system of graduated consequences to manage escalating student misbehavior and reduce office referrals?
- How can I teach students to set their own behavioral goals and take responsibility to change those behaviors?
- How can I build stronger relationships with disengaged students?
As an added benefit, participants can access a webpage created specifically for the workshop to download all training materials and to access links to additional free Internet resources on this topic.
