CIU20: Finding the Spark: Motivating the Special-Needs Student

On Tuesday, 18 August 2015, Jim Wright presented the workshop Finding the Spark: Motivating the Special-Needs Student to CIU20 staff.

James will pre-write to generate ideas for writing using graphic organizers, venn diagrams, and receiving passing grade of 80% accuracy.

James will increase writing skills in the area of grammar, punctuation, capitalization, ideas and content across all content with 80% accuracy.

James will use classroom time appropriately to work on assigned tasks, complete work and turn it in to receive 80% or better in 6 out of 6 classes.

Cesar will improve understanding of age-appropriate vocabulary through relationships with synonyms, multiple meaning words antonyms, analogies with 75% accuracy.

Cesar will correctly answer questions using context clues to determine the meaning or inferred meanings with 75% accuracy during speech.

Cesar will demonstrate increased receptive and expression language skills in the areas of semantics during speech with 75% accuracy in 4/5 therapies.

Cesar will demonstrate organization by developing an introduction, body of text, and conclusion with sequencing of ideas and use of transition words and phrases with a 80% accuracy on 5 out of 5 essays.
