Browsers. Web
browsers are the software that displays Internet content for the user. Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape
Navigator are the two most widely used browsers in the world. If you are using older versions of either of these
browsers, you may run into occasional problems displaying content on this site. The good news, of course, is that browser software is free! Visit the Microsoft or Netscape web site to download
the most recent version of your preferred browser software. |

Cookies. This site does not
use "cookies." (Cookies are small text files that are automatically downloaded from a web site into a
folder on your computer's hard drive. Cookies can be retrieved and read by the web site to help it to 'remember'
user-selected options or to track where you have traveled on the web site.) The reason that we don't use cookies
is simply that we haven't yet gotten around to programming applications that need them. There is a possibility
in the future, though, that we will author new 'Tools for Educators' web programs that use cookies as a convenient means
of storing information that these programs need. (TIP: You can set your browser settings to reject cookies, although
disabling the cookies feature can limit your browser's ability to interact with web sites.) |

Download Time. Some downloadable
resources on Intervention Central
(e.g., pdf files) may be fairly large. To help you to decide whether you want to take the time to download a resource,
large files on the site are labeled with their file size. |

JavaScript. Pages on this site
use JavaScript, an Internet programming language that downloads with web pages and runs on your computer's browser.
Some browsers allow you to turn JavaScript capabilities on or off. Be sure that JavaScript is turned on when visiting
this web site. If you see messages such as "JavaScript error," you may have found a bug in my programming.
Another possibility is that you are using an older web browser that needs to be updated. (See the Browsers section
above.) |

Privacy Policy. Intervention
Central does not collect identifying or personal information
about visitors to the site. This site does, however, collect and store the name of the domain and host from which
you access the Internet (for example, aol.com or princeton.edu); the Internet protocol (IP) address of the computer
you are using; the browser software you use and your operating system; the date and time you access our site; and
the Internet address of the website from which you linked directly to our site. We analyze this data to determine
the number of visitors to the different sections of my site, and to help us to make the site more useful. The site
does not presently use "cookies". (NOTE: Some of the wording in this privacy policy was adapted from
the Federal Trade Commission's Privacy
Policy page.) |
